The Future Campus:
From 'The Academic Village' to 'Urban University Hub'
”Progress, renewal, confidence” is the Danish government's strategy for Denmark's interaction in the global economy. Part of the strategy deals with an improvement of the higher educational system. The government has thus proposed objectives for the number of young people that should complete a higher education; how fast they are supposed to complete their educations; how it is possible to develop a more global educational system, and that the Danish universities should be among the best in the world.
To help fulfil the government strategy the Danish University and Property Agency (UBST) has initiated an international survey regarding the future campus areas. UBST has consequently hired JUUL | FROST Architects to carry out a comprehensive study of the potentials of the campuses.
Objective
The result of the study is a paradigmatic tool that can qualify the future work of developing the national campus.
The study has generated a collected view of campuses abroad and nationally, analyzed advantages and lacks of existing campuses, and listed a number of recommendations regarding the future development and qualification of the Danish campus areas.
